I just thought of this , wish I'd used in the post below. Does anyone else buy great old stuff (like O say old tins) specifically to distress , paint , and otherwise alter them - then get them home and think 'but they look so old and cool now - I can't cover that up. .'
Is it just me?

Hi how are you? I was looking through your blog and found it very interesting to me. As an artist here in San Diego I appreciate a variety of artistic expression.
Having said all that I would like to invite you to become friendly with me here in my San Diego blog, and comment.
You may also see that many of my labels are unique in artistic expression and always at least a music video and other aspects.
I hope you will stop by,
take care
YOU HAVE BEEN TAGGED! Check out the rules here: http://stampgram.blogspot.com
And YES, I do the very same thing...and not just with tins! LOL
No, you aren't alone at all! I have the same great tin collection; bought with the intent to cut into pieces for jewelry and other decorative trinkets. So far I can't bring myself to decontruct. It's nice to know that I'm not alone!
The secret is to buy new tins and stuff and age them. At least that's what I do because, yeah, I get the old stuff home and can't touch it either!
You are not alone! :-) I have bought all kinds of items for my art, and I cannot tear them apart or otherwise alter them.
I do that too!!! I have 2 boxes of cabinet cards I just can't seem to bring myself to alter, plus all kinds of old lace and buttons. Maybe that will be one of my New Years resolutions, to actually use the stuff I've bought! :) Marva
